Things have been pretty hectic lately!
Just made it through the bulk of my classes and with winter coming up I'm spending more time laddering than I have in awhile.
First off a new season of ladder is out
I took my placement match and was disheartened when I was placed in
Silver league
I guess I expected to place lower, and it was kind of disappointing.
(I remember thinking to myself while playing that I should be doing so much more :/)
still motivated to keep going! I want to keep growing and I'm going to seriously put time into this game and try to get better.
It'll be nice to get sponsored....
but to do that I have to put out some results first.
I'm going to focus on this build until I feel like I can perform it at a high level.
9 Pylon
12 Gate
14 Gas
16 Pylon
17 Core
19 Zealot
21 Gas
23 Pylon
@100% Core --> Sentry + WG (Chrono)
Continue chronoboosting probes and making sentries
27 2x Gateway
@100% WG --> Expo
You should have about 4-5 sentries and 1 zealot.
we'll see where this takes me.
Thanks for reading guys!

Quartz
Hey guys!
I've been keeping up with what I said and for the most part played some games pretty frequently.
Sadly my MMR is so low that I'm getting placed against high level silver players :/
but never the less I feel like I'm making some progress!
for those of you who don't know MMR is the match making algorithm that the computer uses to place you against players around your level. From what I know it is highly unstable the more matches you win. Meaning, it doesn't really know where to place you...
So I guess this is good news? ha ha
for the most part I've been working on my mechanics, I'm trying to not let my chronoboost get too high (use it as soon as I can) and constantly make probes.
From what I've seen there are really 3 time periods you should expo (make expansions) at the 7:00, then 11 or 12 min mark. This of course relies on if you feel safe doing so, I've been rushed so many times trying to take an expansion that its just aggravates me.
Let me explain this last part more clearly, in Starcraft 2 resources that you use to make units/ buildings are limited. You have to eventually make new bases and mine them in order to fuel your war. a lot of times lesser players or players or want to end the game quickly do what they can to mass units up quickly and rush over to destroy your base.
If the attack fails, their pretty much screwed the rest of the game, if it works obviously they'll win the game. It's been really hard for me to be a good sport about this because I feel like it takes no skill and shows that the people doing this is a lesser player....
although I guess if I was a better player I would be able to scout around and tell that something like this is heading my way.
Just something else to keep in mind as I play, alright take care guys takes for reading!

Endurance
Hey guys!
I know I haven't been too faithful to this, but I'm making sure that I allot some time every other day for a post.
So big news Stephano won the IPL3! Huge upset because everyone expected the Korean players to take the tourney. mainly just because they are notoriously good players.
For those of yous who don't know what that its a tournament that was was hosted at Caesars Atlantic City, USA. The total prize pool was worth $100,000 with the following break down.
1st place: $30,000
2nd place: $12,000
3rd place: 8,000
4th place: 6,000
5th-8th place: $3,000
9th-16th place: $2,000
17th-32nd place: $1,000
a lot of high level players were invited and as you can see high finishers left with some amount of prize money.
Watching a few of the games motivated me to start playing again and I'm happy to say that I made myself play 5 games today. even though I went 1-4 and I'm still motivated to keep on going and trying to improve.
I decided that I'm going to make myself play 5 games each day. [rather than win 5]
and make myself improve and focus on mechanics more than anything else.
what I mean by mechanics is constantly scouting, making probes, spending money, building units.
all together and keeping a cool head while doing it.
It's natural to get upset and want to let someone have it when they won doing stupid things (got cannon rushed twice - _ -)
but when I really thought about it I should have scouted him and followed his probe, looking out for proxy pylons.
I'm not going to let it get to me and just chalk it up as something to improve on!
thanks for reading guys. I'll try to cover events in more depth and details, still trying to figure out what voice to take when writing this ha ha.
if you guys want more info about the IPL go to their main site! IPL3

1 month in
How's it going guys,
Its been one month since school started and as I taking a break from studying for my exam today I wanted to write a quick update.
So far I've been playing SC2 very little, (sad) but this is only because school is taking a lot of my time. I noticed that when I do have free time I either watch streams or random shows. Mainly because of bad luck in the few games that I do play (Went 0-5 once). I'm surprised I haven't been demoted out of gold, its pretty hard to advance I have to admit.
I wanted to let you guys know about a cool documentary that's being made,
Star Nation

I have to admit this trailer made me very hopeful for E-sports as a whole. whether you know whats going on or not its pretty crazy to see something that many people consider "just a game" to invoke such a huge response.
The interviews are what got to me, I have high hopes for this film and hope that the scene keeps growing.

End of august
It's the last day of august and I'm back in school ready to finish off my last year.
So of course that means I'm having a hard time deciding if I should even continue playing SC2 or focus on school for the most part. The way I see it as long as I finish everything on time and am prepared for every test/ exam then I'll be fine,
but to do that would be asking a lot haha.
It's been awhile since I've updated! I'm going to start posting at least a couple times a weeks from now on, just to have this space to vent since I'm only two weeks in and the work pile is already growing haha
On another note, I've been beating myself up about things that I can't control
from this moment on I won't let myself do that

Season 3
Season 3 of the Starcraft 2 ladder is up and I'm happy to say that I advanced to Gold league!
but of course with progression comes the realization that things only get tougher the closer to the top you get.
I realized right away that at this skill level of the game you must be extremely well at multi-tasking.
playing a few matches I was outplayed by people who were crazy good at dividing my attention. by this I mean like attacking my army or buildings then suddenly attacking me somewhere else so I would have to react fast to defend.
very effective and hard to pull off,
It's going to be rough but I plan to begin trying to over whelm my opponent and eventually wear them out so much that they submit and give up.
I'll be trying to write more off, things have just been crazy and I gotta put more effort into writing

Season 2 ending?
Its been a long time since I wrote in this. and since last time I am proud to say I'm very close to jumping leagues to gold league :]
I had no idea but the ladders were locked around June 15th marking the nearing end of season 2.
what this means is that players can no longer advance in leagues only in the ladders they are in. I guess in a sense its a good thing but it really does trap people who are trying to jump up in higher leagues.
I've played more than a 100 games since season 2 started and I've noticed the weakness of a particular build I would always do in every ladder game. It allows me to get higher tech at a faster rate, but in return I have to give up any early game unit presence.
I managed to win a majority of games using this build but I noticed that as I played more strong opponents they would pretty much auto win with early game pressure.
so what did I end up doing?
adjusting my play style of course!
adapt or die, so rightfully relevant in this case
I'm still fine tuning a build I'm making but eventually I believe that I'll be able to play protoss in a way that no one has every done before.
so much more I would like to say, but my time is short and I have to run

Korean pros
I was watching the NASL yesterday, for those of you who don't know what that is its the North American star league.
Simply put, its the North American eSport version of basketball play offs or a football conference. the match in question was between two Protoss, VTKiwiKaki and oGsmc.
these two guys are well known for being incredibly good at playing their races in their respective home countries (mc -Korean KiwiKaki- Canada) however last nights match was a slaughter. mc completely had KiwiKaki on edge through out both games.
It was really frustrating to see someone like mc advance and possibly win the NASL. foreigners never have much luck in the GSL. That being the Korean equivalent of the NASL.
Watching a game like that really made me think about how big the skill difference is in the world.

Eyyy
New day moar ladderin!
at 9am I already got my 5 wins done, for awhile I was on a winning streak. I think I'm getting the hang of my build, just minor things I have to do get used to following it under pressure.
I took yesterday off so that means that I have an extra 5 wins that I have to make up :/
all this playing made me respect pro gamers more, I know that everybody seems to think their doing something they love, or that its easy to do what they do. But in actuality having to doing this day after day hour after hour would be bound to increase someones dislike for something.
It wouldn't be something they like anymore, I played for 2 hours won 5 games but lost 4 in the process and I already am going to take a break for a couple of hours.
mad props to those guys.

Sliver leaguing
First step I decided to make towards getting better at SC2 is win a mandatory 5 games a day. so far I've been keeping in check with this and actually haven't taken it that hard when I lose.
It used to get me so pissed whenever I lost, I'd shout IMBA or thats a pretty nice race whenever I'd lose but recently I've learned to take it in stride.
I figure every loss I get just helps me learn more, each match shows me a little something more that I can improve on.
Like Duckload-ra says
"No GG = no Skill"
manners...

NEW ISH
Been awhile since I've posted in this thing! time to change direction a bit and talk about something else I've really been meaning to do.
I've decided that since I already spend so much time playing SC2 that I might as well try to make some money off it and thats what I'll do!
I already signed up for a tourney just to gauge where I'm at, from now on I'mma talk about SC2 Strategy and some things that really irk me about the game in general.

ambiguous
Its been a whole semester since I've been written in this. The semester flew blew, lots of memories were made, good ones as well as bad ones. I've recently started talking to someone whose made me want to do more with my life.
I notice that the more we talk, the more and more I want to do so I can share that with her.
Recently though we've gotten more and more close, and I feel like shes suddenly starting to pull away.
I don't know how to feel, I understand her point of view but I don't want to lose everything we've built up to now.
She's an amazing person, and without a doubt I know its my insecurities that are most likely making me see more into this situation than there really is.
all I know is, I have to complete this list of goals for myself
Complete a summer EMT program
volunteer at a Hospital
work as a patient transporter
time will tell what happens with me and her, but I won't let go

Week one
Finally back at school and things have been a little hectic. I'm still not sure what to expect this semester, the grade break down for the classes are pretty bad and everything is heavily weighed. Nothing to do but to go all out on them.

Break
Haven't updated this in awhile, mainly because I'm on break. Its a new year and I'm very motivated for this upcoming year.
I'm aiming for a 4.0 and I'm trying to be involved in as much stuff as I can. I realized that theres a bunch of classes I have to now that I looked at the required ones for UIC (my 1# choice) I'm not too sure how thats going to work out but I'm hoping for the best. Just one more week til I go back, I'm definitely going to miss home.
